YouTube Live to Shorts
Turn your YouTube live streams into Shorts after they end
Short answer
Download your archived stream from YouTube Studio and upload it to EasyClip. We watch and listen to the whole broadcast, cut the moments that stand alone, and start each clip on its first word. Shorts can run up to 3 minutes, so a complete story fits. A 4-hour stream uses 40 tokens for up to 40 clips.
YouTube keeps your stream archive, but nobody scrolls a four-hour video looking for the good ten minutes. Shorts are how new people find those moments.
Works with recordings from YouTube.

YouTube Clips are made one at a time
YouTube Clips let you or a viewer share 5 to 60 seconds of a stream, one clip at a time, and they link back to the original. Shorts are separate uploads that can run up to 3 minutes, which is enough for a full story or a Q&A answer.
Turning a stream archive into Shorts by hand means scrubbing the whole thing. Upload it once and review the clips instead.
A 4-hour YouTube stream uses 40 tokens, so up to 40 included clips. The Creator pack (100 tokens for $30) covers it.
Moments to look for
- Super Chat reactions and answers
- Story segments that finish in under 3 minutes
- Gameplay clutches with commentary
- Community Q&A answers
- Collab moments with guests
- Announcements and milestones
How it works
From one recording to clips you can post
Upload the whole thing
Download the stream archive from YouTube Studio and upload the full file. Files can be up to 12 hours and 8 GB. We count the length and include about 10 clips per hour, with a minimum of 5 per upload. You don't pick a number.
Say what your audience likes
Tell us whether your viewers come for gameplay, advice, reactions, or a running series, and which topics get the most comments.
Download, then decide on extras
Upload the clips as Shorts, using the SRT files for captions. Extras stay available for 7 days if you want more.
What it costs
A 4-hour stream uses 40 tokens: up to 40 clips, about 13 days at 3 posts a day. That’s $10.67 to $13.33 depending on the pack.
More good moments than that? Add them as extras, 2 per token, for 7 days. Unfilled slots come back as tokens. Pricing details
Good to know
- Clips keep the framing you uploaded. There’s no automatic vertical crop yet.
- Each clip comes with a transcript and an SRT file. Captions aren’t burned in.
- It sees the play and hears the reaction, but it isn’t connected to kill feeds or game events. Commentary gives it the most to work with.
Common questions about YouTube Live clips
How do I clip a YouTube live stream after it ends?
For a single moment, use YouTube's Clip button on the archive (5 to 60 seconds). For a batch of Shorts, download the archive from YouTube Studio and upload it to EasyClip.
How long can a YouTube Short be?
Up to 3 minutes. EasyClip doesn't force a fixed length: a clip ends when the moment ends, so some will be 20 seconds and some will be two minutes.
Are the clips vertical?
Not yet. EasyClip cuts from your original file and keeps its framing, so a 16:9 recording comes back as 16:9. If you want a facecam-over-gameplay vertical layout, you'll still need to crop it in your editor for now.
How many Shorts do I get from a 4-hour stream?
A 4-hour stream uses 40 tokens, so up to 40 included clips. The Creator pack (100 tokens for $30) covers it. Shorts past that number are listed after the job with their opening and length, so you can add the ones you want.
Will it catch Super Chats I react to?
Usually. It hears you read the message and sees it on screen when your overlay shows it, so a Super Chat with a real answer or reaction is a strong candidate. A message you scroll past without comment is less likely to be picked.
